Start the new year by learning to love trees! Join us on Saturday, January 27, 2024 for an interactive day of learning about tree planting and care. This event will provide an educational experience for multigenerational families in West O‘ahu, focusing on trees and plants important to our culture.

Space is limited and registration is required. We welcome families of up to 4 people (not including keiki under 2 yrs) as well as individuals.

Arbor Day Volunteer Workday & Plant Giveaway
Join the Mālama Learning Center and Protect and Preserve for our Arbor Day Volunteer Workday and Plant Giveaway! Help give back to ʻāina as we restore up mauka at our Kahe Restoration site, located next to Camp Pālehua. Learn about the importance of native plants, their uses, and how to properly care for them! Following the workday, each ʻohana with receive a free plant as a mahalo for their generous kōkua.
Arbor Day Volunteer Workday & Plant Giveaway Saturday, November 4, 2023 From 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Kahe Restoration Site at Camp Pālehua *Directions will be sent out as the date approaches If you are interested in volunteering and attending this workshop, we ask that you please complete the following form. All keiki (ages 18 and under) must be accompanied by an adult. After you complete this form, you will receive a follow-up email asking you to confirm your attendance or the slot will be given to another party. If for some reason you need to cancel, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled workday. A final email with detailed information will be sent the week before the event. ʻUlu Propagation Workshop & Volunteer Workday
Join the Mālama Learning Center for our ʻUlu Propagation Workshop & Volunteer Workday! This workshop will be led by ʻUlu Expert; Kalani Puaoi, on growing and caring for ʻulu (breadfruit), which is an excellent traditional food source. During this workday, volunteers will also have a chance to learn about Awawalei and the plants being grown, as well as partake in some light hana (work) to care for the garden. To end the day, each ʻohana with receive a free plant as a mahalo for their generous kōkua. There will also be light refreshments at the end such as some ʻono ʻulu.
Plants available at the giveaway will be tī, kupukupu, milo, ʻāweoweo, ʻaʻaliʻi, and a few others.
**We are NOT giving away ʻulu trees at this plant giveaway.
