Lā Honua - Earth day!
Join the Mālama Learning Center and Kapolei High School's Hoʻōla Academy as we celebrate Lā Honua (Earth Day) 2023!
We will be hosting a community workday at the Kapolei High School Nursery as we work and learn how to mālama ʻāina through the love of growing native trees and other plants! To end the day, each ʻohana with receive a free plant as a mahalo for their generous kōkua to mālama the KHS nursery. Lā Honua Community Workday/w KHS Hoʻōla Academy Saturday, April 22, 2023 At Kapolei High School's Nursery From 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM On this community workday, you will learn about the historical, cultural, and environmental benefits of native plants and trees, hear from Tree Experts on "Right Tree, Right Place," as well as receive proper care information, and participate in hana (work) that may include some or all of the following activities: removal of invasive species and debris, watering, and/or plant propagation/up-potting. Each ʻohana will receive a plant; plants were grown by students in the Hoʻōla Academy and by the Mālama Learning Center. Tentative Schedule: 8:30 AM Introductions 9:00 AM Hana Time! 10:00 AM Native Plant Information/Propagation 10:30 AM Hear from "Tree Expert"; Emily Perry from the Division of Urban Forestry Community Forester 11:00 AM Pau! Leave with a plant to care for at home If you are interested in volunteering at our Lā Honua Community Workday, we ask that you please complete the following Registration Form. Join Mālama Learning Center and friends at the Hawai'i Agriculture Research Center in Kunia at our family-friendly event on Saturday, April 23, 2022! 9 am - Noon Doors open at 8:30 am and close at 11:45 am Experience hands-on gardening workshops, walk-in butterfly exhibit, country store with farm-made goods and indigenous plant starter kits, native plant sale, and more! |

- Kama‘āina Keiki (ages 5-12; age 4 and under free) - $4/person
- Kama‘āina ‘Ohana (up to 4 people) - $15
- Non-resident - $15/person (age 13 and up)
- Non-resident child (ages 5-12; age 4 and under free) $10/person
