Cayenne Guevarra
Aloha! I am Cayenne Guevarra; I am currently 17 years old and a senior at Kapolei High School. I deeply enjoy paddling, hula, and spending time with friends/family. The community and support I have in my daily life is what pushes me to always be the best version of myself. After graduation I will be attending Oregon State University for my bachelors in Natural Resources. With the Mālama Learning Center I am excited to deepen my knowledge and connection with my home here in Hawaiʻi. I strongly believe we are keiki o ka ʻāina and it is our responsibility to mālama and hoʻomalu this beautiful place we call home. The kupuna of Hawaii always knew that their actions would affect those 7 generations after them, so they made it a point to keep us in their minds. It is our turn to do the same.

Bernard Alcantara
Ola Nā Kini Intern 2025
Hello! My name is Bernard Alcantara. I am third year student at the University of Hawai’i at West O’ahu and I’m currently studying Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I am inspired by the diversity of people with various backgrounds working for the organization. I am a firm believer that the different skills and knowledge that each of us bring can usher forward change and innovation. Consuming and creating art is like my second nature. I like to think that the resourcefulness, tactility, and creativity required in making anything is similar to the way we work with our hands on the field. This is what I can provide, but this is also why I’m excited for all of the work we get to do. To learn more about the nature of the island, about the different species we often pass by without giving much thought, or about the different methods of restoration and conservation is, to me, all a creative process that requires resourcefulness, tactility, and creativity that I can’t wait to experience.

I am from Hau’ula, O’ahu. I love to work in the ‘āina and kai. I am excited for this internship because it’s a beautiful learning opportunity. I get to learn about native plants, their uses, and why it is so important to keep them alive. E Ola Mau Aloha ʻAina!
