Hoʻākea is an initiative spearheaded by Superintendent Hayashi and sponsored by the DOE. Various waʻa kaulua (double-hulled canoes) and aloha ʻāina (land and ocean based) organizations in our communities across the Hawaiian Islands provide hands-on learning experiences that perpetuate foundational values and perspectives of wayfinding.
We hope that Hoʻākea inspires our students, schools, and larger community to embrace the "Navigator Mindset and become the leaders, stewards, and critical thinkers" that can navigate us into a brighter future.
Hoʻākea ʻEwa 2025
