Program is Free of Charge with daily lunch provided. Pre-Registration is Required
E Ola Waiʻanae is a new summer program offered by Nā Kama Kai, in partnership with Mālama Learning Center. Its foundation is Nā Kama Kai’s successful Kauwela Kai Summer Program, which empowers youth by connecting them to the kai and ʻāina to develop a deeper sense of aloha and kuleana for the natural environment and themselves.
Like Kauwela Kai, E Ola Waiʻanae will develop among keiki a stronger relationship with the ocean while building their skills in ocean safety, lifeguarding, and ocean activities like swimming, surfing, and sailing. These skills build character for keiki that ensure successful futures keeping our people thriving in Hawai‘i for generations to come.

With Mālama Learning Center, the E Ola Waiʻanae Summer Program will offer weekly service-learning huakaʻi to mauka areas. The program will empower keiki to explore their kuleana of how their actions on land directly influence the health and vitality of the ocean.
Preference will be given to students ages 6-16 in the Nānākuli-Waiʻanae Complex. Alakaʻi who have previously participated in Nā Kama Kai and Mālama Learning Center programs may apply to serve as mentors. Daily attendance is strongly encouraged. The daily program will begin and end at Hālau Nā Kama Kai in Wai‘anae at Pōkaʻī Bay. |
